Privacy Policy

We collect only what we need to run the App:

• Account information. When you sign in we receive your email address or phone number, and—if you use Google or Apple Sign-In—your name and profile photo. You may add a username, display name, and avatar.
• Catch data. The catches you log: photos, the location where the catch was made (from the photo's GPS or your device), species, measurements (length, weight), date and time, notes, gear used, and your chosen visibility (private, friends, or public).
• Gear & profile. Lures, rods, reels, and lines you save, and your profile and display preferences.
• Diagnostics. To keep the App reliable we collect error and crash reports, which may include your device model, operating system, app version, network information, and an account identifier.

Reading a photo's real location is a core feature—it's how a catch gets pinned to where you caught it. When you identify a species, the catch photo is sent to our identification providers (below) to analyze the fish. We do not use your location for advertising.

• To provide the App: store and display your catches, gear, and profile.
• To identify species and show conditions (weather, pressure, moon, tides) and best-effort local regulations for your catch.
• To build aggregated reports and suggestions for anglers (cross-referenced across users in a way that does not identify you).
• To secure the App, prevent abuse, debug problems, and provide support.

We share information with these providers only to operate the App:

• Supabase — hosting, database, file storage, and authentication.
• Sentry — error and crash monitoring.
• Fishial.AI and Google (Gemini) — species identification and product/regulation lookups; your catch photo is processed to identify the fish.
• Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In — optional account sign-in.
• Open-Meteo — weather and conditions (coordinates are sent; no personal information).
• Google Maps — map images.
• WhatsApp (via our bot) — if you verify your number, we send your catch cards and verification codes to your WhatsApp.

We do not sell your personal information. Your catches are visible to others only according to the visibility you choose for each catch. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and users.

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual catches in the App, and you can permanently delete your account and associated data in the App (Profile → Delete my account) or at fishnerd.ai/delete-account.

• Access, correct, or delete your catches and profile in the App.
• Control who can see each catch with the visibility setting.
• Request a copy or deletion of your data by emailing us.
• Manage camera, photo, and location permissions in your device settings.

Data is encrypted in transit, and access is restricted. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

FishNerd is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

FishNerd is operated from the United States, and your information is processed and stored there. By using the App you consent to this processing.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate.
