Pousada Ecológica Oasis sits on the banks of the Xingu River, in the São Félix do Xingu (PA) region, an Amazonian stretch known for rapids, deep pools, and clear water during the low-water season. In our research we could not find an accessible official website or a Google Maps listing for the place — so much of what follows comes from the original list of claims itself, cross-checked against what is known about fishing in this stretch of the Xingu, and should be confirmed with the lodge before the trip.

What you'll catch

  • Wolf fish (trairão) — a surface predator, typical of rocky stretches and rapids on the Xingu.
  • Fire peacock bass (tucunaré-fogo) — a variety associated with the fast waters of the Xingu.
  • Bicuda (bicuda) — strikes fast surface lures.
  • Payara (cachorra-facão) — a mid-water predator, strong fighter that jumps.
  • Jau catfish (jaú) — a catfish species from deep pools; usually requires bottom fishing, not surface fishing.

Best season

The original claim cited June to November. Regional sources (level 3, unofficial) indicate that the strongest low-water period on the Xingu/São Félix do Xingu runs from June to October, with lower water and more active rapids; by November the river would already be starting to rise, with fish dispersing. We treat this window (June–October) as the most likely one, but without confirmation from the lodge's own website or Google listing.

Techniques and lures

  • Large propeller plugs and poppers on the surface for wolf fish and bicuda — consistent with the surface-fishing pattern cited for the spot.
  • Weedless frog-style lures in areas of submerged vegetation (creek mouths, log jams) — more plausible as 'heavy cover fishing' than as a generic technique.
  • For jau catfish, fishing is usually done on the bottom with natural bait in deep pools — this differs from the surface-lure emphasis in the original list and should not be taken as confirmed specifically for Oasis.

Facilities and prices

The original claim mentions treated-wood cabins with split air conditioning, Pará-style meals, and native guides, with weekly packages between R$ 12,000 and R$ 19,000 per angler. We could not confirm these figures or this setup from a reliable independent source: one of the searches turned up detailed price and facility tables, but the sources cited in them were for other Xingu lodges (Pousada Rio Xingu, Xingu Lodge), not Oasis — so those tables were discarded here. Treat the original price range as an estimate to be confirmed directly with the lodge.

How to get there

Access to the São Félix do Xingu region usually goes through Altamira (PA), with a flight there followed by ground or river transport to the lodge — this is the standard route for fishing lodges in this stretch of the Xingu, but Oasis's specific transfer arrangement was not confirmed in any source.
