Fishing lodges on the Araguaia River
The Araguaia is the river of beaches: in the dry season, June to October, the water drops, sandbars appear and the fishing turns on. The lodges in our guide sit on the middle Araguaia between Goiás and Mato Grosso — the stretch around Cocalinho, São Miguel do Araguaia and the mouth of the Cristalino.
This is big-catfish water — redtail, cachara and jaú — with peacock bass and pacu in the side channels and lagoons. Lodges work with boat and guide included, and full-board packages are the norm. Off season, many close or open only by reservation.
