Pesqueiro Matsumura is located at Chácara Santo Amaro, in the Grajaú district, South Zone of São Paulo, about 18 km from the Autódromo de Interlagos. It's divided into two units: Matsumura I, with 2 lakes, and Matsumura II, with 3 lakes — one of them, the 'Lago dos Gigantes' (Giants' Lake), is the go-to spot for the big ones (tambacu, redtail catfish (pirarara), golden dorado (dourado)).

  • Tambacu (a hybrid of tambaqui and pacu — not pure tambaqui, as previously stated)

Best season

The fishing spot operates year-round. In warm weather (December to March), tambacu, redtail catfish (pirarara), and golden dorado are more active; in cold weather (April to September), carp, tilapia, and pacu are more productive. We could not confirm whether the ponds are actually covered/sheltered, as one source claims.

Bait and techniques

  • Japanese paste bait (potato/wheat dough) is the signature bait here, good for tambacu, carp, and pacu
  • Mihogo (grub) and earthworms work well for carp, pacu, and tilapia
  • Corn for carp and tilapia
  • Bottom fishing is the dominant technique; in Unit I's river-branch lake, lures (spoons, spinners) catch golden dorado and wolf fish (traíra)

Facilities and prices

Two parking lots, two snack bars with home-style food, playgrounds, waterside kiosks, and service carts circulating among anglers. There's no lodging — it's day use only, from 7am to 6pm (6:30pm during daylight saving time). Sources disagree on the sport fishing day rate: some cite R$ 40–49, others R$ 50–80. Confirm the current price directly via Instagram or phone before you go.

How to get there

By car, access is via Av. Interlagos/Estrada do M'Boi Mirim, in the Parelheiros area; by public transport, the trip is long and requires an Uber/taxi from the Terminal Parelheiros.
