Pesqueiro Ueda is located in the Aroeiras neighborhood, in the rural area of Mogi das Cruzes, and features two lakes: a smaller one, better suited for tilapia and fly fishing, and a larger, deeper one, with a wide variety of fish. It's a family-friendly fishing spot — playground, kiosks with barbecue grills, and permission to bring food, drinks, and a cooler, which not every fishing spot in the region allows.

What you can catch there

  • Tambacu — the species most associated with the spot, with reports of large specimens pulled from the bottom using a chum feeder (cevadeira)
  • Tilapia — abundant in the smaller lake, good for light rods and fly fishing
  • Pacu, pintado (spotted catfish) and carp — present, but with fewer specific reports than tambacu and tilapia
  • Traíra (wolf fish), dourado (golden dorado), matrinxã, curimbá and bagre/catfish appear in reports and on the Mogi das Cruzes City Hall page, but less frequently in anglers' reports

Best season

There is no seasonality information published by the fishing spot itself. What is known is general biology: tilapia and tambacu feed more between September and March, when the water is warmer, and become slower during the cold winter months. This is not a specific guarantee from Ueda — treat it as a tendency, not a rule, and confirm recent activity by phone before driving there on cold days.

Techniques and baits that work

  • Dough bait and softened fish feed — the most versatile bait, mentioned in practically every fishing report at the spot
  • Beijinho (bait ball) and sausage — good specific results for tambacu
  • Cevadeira (float with feed) — preferred technique for tilapia and tambacu on the bottom
  • Fly fishing and ultra-light — used in the smaller lake for tilapia and matrinxã
  • Earthworm and chicken heart — recommended for bagre/catfish and pintado (spotted catfish)

Facilities, price and how to get there

The fishing spot has a snack bar/restaurant, a bait and tackle shop, kiosks, and an accessible restroom. According to Ueda's official social media, admission costs R$ 90 for anglers and R$ 40 for companions — lower prices (R$ 20 to R$ 40) appear on outdated third-party directories, so it's worth confirming by phone before going. The address is Rodovia Prefeito Francisco Ribeiro Nogueira, Km 69, Aroeiras neighborhood, about 1h30 from São Paulo via Ayrton Senna highway and then SP-98; there is no public transport directly to the entrance.
