Fishing app comparison: FishNerd vs 5 apps, feature by feature (2026)
This is the whole fishing app comparison in one table: FishNerd and the five biggest other fishing apps across sixteen features, from the catch log to the smartwatch app. Every cell was read from the app's own store listing or website on the date shown, and where a listing did not say, the cell is a dash, not a No.
We make FishNerd, so read the table knowing that. It is built to be checkable rather than flattering: the section right below it lists every row where FishNerd loses, generated from the same data, because a comparison that only shows the rows you win is an advertisement.

Where FishNerd loses
These are the rows where FishNerd is a plain No and at least one other app has the feature. FishNerd is a catch log, not a chart plotter or a forecaster: it records what happened, with the conditions attached, and does not try to predict next Saturday or draw the bottom of the lake. If any of these is the thing you fish by, the app named next to it is the better tool, and we would rather you knew that now.

Where FishNerd is different
FishNerd has no paid tier; all five other apps in this table sell one.
One photo fills in the log: species identified by AI, and the weather, pressure trend, moon phase, solunar window and tide at that moment attached automatically. Local regulations are attached per catch. Groups are private — your own crew, with a shared feed, map, album and leaderboard, mirrored into WhatsApp as catch cards — and there is a tackle box that reads barcodes. In English, Portuguese and Spanish.
And the row at the top: no in-app purchases at all. Of the six apps in the table, only FishNerd has no paid tier. The other five sell a subscription, and in most of them the maps, charts or unlimited forecasts are what it unlocks.
How to read the table
Yes and No are verified from the listing or the developer's site. Paid tier means the feature exists but only in a subscription. Partial means the listing describes something close but not the same — a community group rather than a public feed, solunar windows rather than a per-species forecast. A dash means the listing did not say, and we did not guess. Prices are as of the date under the title; if you find one out of date, tell us and it will be fixed.
The honest verdict
If you want charts and depth, Fishing Points or Fishbox. If you want the bite forecast, Fishing Points or Fishbrain. If you want the trip recorded hands-free, ANGLR. If you want the largest user base — 74,000 US App Store ratings, the most of any app here — Fishbrain. If you want the catch logged from a photo, with the conditions attached, shared with your own group, and never a paywall — that is the column with the most Yes cells and no Paid ones, and we make it.
